Rated 3 out of 5 Great sensory experience for handwriting
I like this toy for handwriting practice because it provides great tactile sensory feedback when forming letters. The only downside is that the arrows next to the letters that show the directionality for forming them are awkward/incorrect according to most handwriting programs. So I use this for the sensory aspect and additional practice for forming letters while ignoring the arrows and making sure the letters are formed correctly. Really fun and satisfying feeling to make the magnetic beads pop into place with the wand, and even better to push them back in again with your fingertip (also good for index finger isolation and fine motor skill development).

Rated 1 out of 5 by literacycoach not educational at all
I don't recommend using this toy for teaching a child how to write letters. The numbered arrows might make sense for pulling the magnets, but the order of the arrows is random and does not follow any established handwriting system. For example, you wouldn't want a child to be practicing writing an uppercase N by drawing parallel vertical lines and then connecting them with a diagonal. It really shouldn't be advertised as educational.
