We were so, so, SO fortunate to be gifted a Mamaroo when my son arrived last September. Initially I thought it was a bit over-the-top, but really, this item is worth its weight in gold. My son was very reflux-y and colicky and the Mamaroo was the only way he slept many nights. It was a sanity saver, and eased his discomfort. The different settings were handy, as just as he'd lose interest in one, speeding it up slightly, or changing the motion, would do the trick again. I also loved that it could be reclined in several different positions - worked wonderfully as he grew. The sound settings were great for added white noise, too. Overall, HIGHLY recommend. I'm not using the word "essential" lightly.

Rated 5 out of 5 Got us thru the first 2 months!
Our daughter slept exclusively in her Mam Roo for the first two months. I truly don't know what we would've done without it. It's super soft and cuddly, which she loved, and the different movement settings helped her sleep. As she got older, she enjoyed the mobile. She was "over it" by 4.5 months, which is fine as we just wrapped it up for baby #2.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, MamaRoo 2012 boasts the following parent-requested updates:--Parents can increase the speed to 50% faster than previous models.
--It's easier to use with an improved interface and re-designed controls.
--The control buttons color has been updated from orange to silver.
--A more secure toy bar.
--MamaRoo's fashions have been "fashionably" updated!
