I searched high and low for an organic crib mattress. I finally narrowed it down to three:
OMI
Eco Baby Organic
CocoMat Natural Mat
You probably can't go wrong with any of the above. However, the OMI stood out for high quality, and the fact after I tried it out at Giggle (they let me lay on it) I found that I REALLY wanted one for myself. It is firm without being hard. And the natural latex means no dust mites. I believe there is an interior wool lining so it is naturally flame resistant.
Sadly an OMI adult is way out of our price range ($4,000+) so I settled on the crib.
Yes it is pricey, but I figure that if you are buying this to be used for three years or so with each child, it is well worth the upfront investment.

This mattress is extremely well made. Not only is it sooo supportive and comfortable, but it is so much healthier for a baby to sleep on! No nasty chemicals or flame retardants to breathe in. We did our research before buying our daughters crib mattress, and hands down the OMI was what we wanted.
Now...to start saving up for one of these for us! HIGHLY recommended.

We have to get a new mattress for our toddler's bed-- since this is not dual firmness, is it good for a toddler who needs something a little less firm than an infant? Is there a better organic mattress for a toddler bed?
