Rated 5 out of 5 by IndyMom Awesome mattress!
We delayed so long in buying this mattress b/c it was expensive (however, not the most expensive on the market). Ultimately, we broke down and purchased it b/c of the natural materials. Considering the amount of time a baby spends sleeping in their crib, we wanted our DD to have the fewest manmade materials/chemicals/etc. impacting her developing lungs. The mattress is very firm, as a baby mattress should be. And the Bloom waterproof mattress cover has saved the mattress from the inevitable blow-outs. Highly recommend.

This is a nice mattress and seemed to be the only option that I could find for the Alma crib. It definitely does the job and is firm enough now, but it is thin, so I'm not sure if it withstand the test of time.

Q:
We are trying to decide between the two mattresses for the Alma mini crib. What is the thickness of the two mattresses? The coconut mattress seems much thinner than the spring mattress, is this correct?Answers
A:
Whether you're looking for a more conventional/traditional mattress or a more natural/organic mattress, giggle has two options for Alma Mini that are ideal for parents with these mattress philosophies! Here's a quick guide to how to select the mattress that's right for you along with dimensions so you can make a comparison:
--Alma Mini Body-Fit Spring Mattress: 35.5" W x 17.75” L x 3.25" H. Choose this mattress if you're looking for a dual side, progressive firmness mattress that inverts to accommodate baby’s increasing weight.
--Alma Mini CocoMat Mattress: 35.5" L x 17.75" W x 3.5" H. Choose this mattress if you're looking for a mattress made out of only materials from nature -- this is an organic mattress that’s easy to clean, extremely supportive and firm, ventilated, and breathable.
And, since neither is waterproof, make sure to add an Alma Mini Waterproof Sheet to contain little (or big) messes!

Q:
Is this mattress firm enough for a baby to sleep on every night? I know that is a requirement for SIDS prevention, and it looks like it is more cushy than a typical full-sized crib mattress. Thanks.Answers
A:
You are right: when it comes to reducing the risk of SIDS, the firmer the mattress, the better. The coir used in the Coco Mat is coated in natural latex, which provides superb ventilation and insulation, and helps make an extremely firm and supportive mattress - a key safety feature in regards to any mattress.Q:
Is the mattress cover washable?Answers
A:
Yes, the unbleached organic cotton mattress cover on the Coco Mat Mini Mattress is removable and machine washable. Coupled with an Alma Mini Crib Mattress Protector, you can be sure your Alma mattress will be well protected, and easy to care for!1 of 1
