Rated 4 out of 5 by Bebo Cannot use crib bumpers
We chose the Harper because we already had some birch furniture we wanted to match a crib to. It was the least prison-cell type design and we liked that it met giggle's criteria and was less than a grand. It looks great in the baby's room. It is sturdy and seems well built. However, when the baby started turning, limbs started creeping out. We got a bumper and realized the curved edges don't allow for the bumper to be tied. The people at giggle recommend not putting anything in the crib. I'm not gonna let my kid sleep with an arm or foot wedged between the wood. We kept the bumpers and tied them where we could. Had I known I may have made a different choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DCMama Beautiful well-made crib!
I love this crib and for the price it is far superior to so many poorly made products out there. It's solid wood and so sturdy. We bought it in natural which looks great and I like that it isn't your typical white crib.

Great modern look and not too big. Due to the thicker corners, note that attaching bumpers is very difficult if you plan to use one. But overall, we love the design of the crib and for the price it is much sturdier than cribs we've seen at other stores.

Rated 5 out of 5 by loveluna Beautiful, safe + sturdy
We love our Harper crib. The rounded corners are lovely, it's easy to assemble and to drop the mattress once the baby is standing. I'm looking for a great, organic teething rail cover in case anyone has suggestions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Uzma Love this crib!
The Harper crib is fantastic. Not only does it look clean and modern, but it fits comfortably in our small nursery without overwhelming the rest of the space.
Initially we had some issues with the legs not screwing on tight enough but once we brought that to the attention to the folks at giggle, it was an easy swap for new legs - great customer service!
In spite of the initial issue with the legs, we love this crib-- and so does our baby. Totally recommend this to anyone looking for a moderately priced and well designed piece of nursery furniture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Santismom 15 months later, happier than ever
we bought this crib for my first son and started using it when he was four months old. After a year of everyday use it is still solid, despite my son biting the rails, milk spills, and my 2 year old nephew jumping on it on occasion. Assembly was easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gracetx Great crib!
We purchased this crib in the walnut finish when my son was 7 months old. We had livedd overseas until then and didn't move his nursery furniture. It has held up very well. The finish has one small scratch in it where my son was testing out his teeth. We also purchased the toddler conversion kit and have found that to be a perfect transition. We are now moving him to a full-size bed as we move the crib to the new nursery for baby number two. This has been a great piece of furniture and I expect it will last for a very long time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JWDC Beautiful Crib for Good Price
We ordered the Harper Crib in walnut. It's a beautiful crib at a (comparatively) good price. It looks great with orange sheets and works well with the cherry wood furniture we already had for the nursery. My only beef with the crib is that, despite its seemingly solid construction, the mattress support piece arrived cracked at both ends-something we didn't discover for several weeks after it arrived, when my husband unpacked it for assembly. While this worried me about the quality of the crib, Giggle was fantastic about it. I just sent some photos of the cracked piece and they sent a replacement (at no cost, of course), which I received within four days or so. Other than that, no problems. The crib does seem very sturdy, and we like it very much.

Q:
Hello! I'm registered for the Harper Crib and very excited about it's construction, value, and apparent eco-friendliness.Today I read an article on the Huffington Post ( http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jennifer-grayson/eco-etiquette-should-i-fr_b_814096.html#s230152&title=Giggle_Harper_Crib ) regarding the safety of crib materials and the Harper Crib was featured as a good option.
I am wondering however about the birch plywood -- is this environmentally- and baby-friendly? The HuffPo article states "Specifically, pressed wood furniture, which includes particleboard (hello, Ikea!), some plywood, and medium density fiberboard [...] All of these wood products are made from itty bitty pieces of wood that are bonded with a resin that contains formaldehyde. We also know that formaldehyde, is indeed, highly toxic. The World Health Organization calls it a known carcinogen; EPA concurs, linking its inhalation to a host of cancers, including nasopharyngeal cancers, leukemia, and lymphoma."
Is there any need for parents to be concerned about possible harm to baby? Thanks very much for your time and assistance!

Q:
Are there any bumpers out there that fit the Harper crib? It's a bit challenging with the rounded edges. Thanks!Answers
A:
To use a bumper or not to use a bumper is based on a parent’s individual informed philosophy about their child’s sleep environment. Crib bumpers are optional pieces of bedding and are approved for use by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) up to a child’s 6 month milestone.Experts unanimously agree that an infant’s sleep area should be both well ventilated and temperature regulated. Should you choose to use a bumper, follow these steps to ensure that the bumper is installed just right:
1.The bottom 1/3 of the crib bumper will be pushed down in-between the crib’s mattress and the crib’s side – this will shore-up any gap and will prevent an infant from pushing themselves under the bumper.
2.The bumper will then be tightly tied to the crib slats to secure it in-place and prevent it from moving -- depending on the crib design you may need to move around the bumper to find the best way to secure it.
Every family is different, and giggle recommends that parents consult a trusted resource, such as their family’s physician, to determine whether a bumper is right for their child’s sleep environment.

giggle's Better Basics Harper Crib has 3 mattress support positions -- -- begin with the mattress support in the top position for easy acccess to your newborn; then lower the mattress support to the middle; and, once your baby begins showing active signs of movement, around 6 months old, move the support to the lowest position.Q:
Hi, I really like the Harper crib but just wanted to find out if the plywood used for the end panels/mattress slats is formaldehyde free? Thanks!

Q:
I noticed that about 2 yrs ago there were 2 questions from potential users regarding the JPMA certification. I understand that the crib has other safety certifications but is giggle or the manufacturer planning or has undergone JPMA certification? Is the crib JPMA certified?Answers
A:
We're proud to answer that our giggle Better Basics Harper Collection meets all CPSC, CPSIA, CFR & ASTM standards, and all EU Emissions Standards.Although we work closely with the JPMA and appreciate the hard work that they are trying to do on behalf of juvenile manufacturers in our industry today, after evaluating the costs of this additional certification we have decided at this time to not pursue JPMA certification in order to keep our high quality crib a budget-friendly option for more consumers.
As you know, JPMA certification confirms that a product meets all of the US standards. We use the same independent testing labs as the JPMA and have independently tested with third party certification that the Harper meets all such standards and stand behind that certification. Moreover, we have invested additional testing dollars to ensure that the Harper meets not only US but also European manufacturing standards for cribs.

Im planning to register for the Basics Harper Crib and a Naturepedic Mattress. The mattress measures 27.5" x 52" x 6". I would like to know if this mattress will fit into the Basics Harper Crib, will it be too snug or too loose. Also, would I be able to fit a mattress cover on the mattress. ThanksAnswers

Hi there,We purchased the Harper Crib in October (or so) of 2011. Recently I've seen images of the Harper Crib as a toddler bed with the ends of the crib making up a headboard and footboard. Did not see this configuration when I looked this time at the listing on the website. Is this an option for a model purchased last year? Is there a conversion kit we'll need to purchase for this configuration? It does not look like the toddler bed conversion kit you have listed.

We love that you love the newest addition to giggle's Harper collection, the Harper Toddler Bed! It's an alternative to a crib conversion kit and still maintains a crib-size footprint. Here's a list of giggle's Harper bed options:--Harper Crib: Use it from birth and convert it into a toddler bed by replacing one of the long sides wiht the Harper Crib Conversion Kit.
--Harper Crib Conversion Kit: Extends the life of your Harper Crib by installing this conversion kit.
--Harper Toddler Bed: If you love the Harper collection, but are past the crib stage you can still buy Harper! Parents who need their crib for a 2nd or 3rd baby and whose toddler isn't quite ready for a "big bed" can now transition into giggle's Harper Toddler Bed, a unit that's completely independent from giggle's Harper Crib.

Q:
Hi,If someone could get back to me ASAP, that would be very helpful.
I would like to purchase the Harper Crib
But first, I have a few questions
1). *******I am looking to find out what the ratings are on this crib for The CPSIA standards for lead and toxicity, in terms of PPM? I have seen other companies boast about how their cribs' paint and stains come in at 2 PPM, when the standard has to be below 90. How does the Harper compare?
2). Since the crib is manufactured in Europe, how does it rank based on EU Emissions Standards? (I know there is EO, E1, E2, etc.) This is also something I see other cribs advertising.
3). How does it rank in terms of California CARB Emissions phases?
Please do get back to me ASAP as I need an answer very soon.
Thank you!!

We've had this crib since November of 2011 and have loved it. However, since my son is more mobile these days and moves around the crib a lot, his legs have been getting stuck in between the bars and in the slats on either end of the crib. Are the openings the standard size? It's very concerning as a few times his legs have been jammed and very difficult for me to get them out. Despite having installed breathable mesh crib bumpers, he's still getting jammed in the ends of the crib where the bumpers don't cover.Answers
