This thermometer is just average for me. It does have a lot of features that I love, like being able to use it for bath water, formula and food, I just found that it was very sensitive. I would often get multiple readings before I had it in place. A really good tool but can get frustrating.

Although it is simple to use, we have yet to get a proper reading out of this thermometer-- in fact, it has yet to give us a reading above 96 degrees. I was very disappointed and we had to replace it soon after our daughter's birth. Every so often I bring it out, hoping it will work, but it always lets us down.

Since there are now so many different methods of taking a child's temperature today, your best bet is finding out if your pediatrician has a preferred method for you to take your child's temperature. Although one method is not necessarily better than another, it may be that your pediatrician really prefers that you use an ear thermometer, temporal thermometer, or a mercury free oral thermometer. Almost all doctors agree that home measurement will never be as accurate for the nominal temperature as what they will do in a doctor’s office (typically rectal) but the key is to track the progression (up/down) in making a decision to see a doctor.
