My son loved these when he was teething. I would keep one in the car and one in the diaper bag. He would chew and twist these for comfort and enjoyment.

Just gave this to my 5-month baby today and she loved it! I was surprised at how much control she had with her hands to be able to position it perfectly on her gums. She was rubbing it up and down her gum and chewed on it a couple of times -- she has never exercised that amount of control with any other toy or teether. However, she wasn't able to play with it as well when lying down, so I would suggest this only if your baby is already sitting up.
Even though there is a protective disc, my baby has a small mouth and did gag a couple of times. I don't think she got the teether far back in her mouth, but probably just surprised herself and that triggered her gag reflex.
