Aren't bumpers suppose to not be safe anymore? The only thing is that my last baby would get his hands caught between the rails since the crib isn't too big so I'm wondering if I should get the bumper or if it might take up too much space.

In addition, experts agree that an infant should sleep on a firm mattress, and that the infant’s sleeping area is both well ventilated, and temperature regulated. Should you choose to use a bumper, follow these steps to assure that the bumper is properly attached:1.The bottom 1/3 of the crib bumper will be pushed down in-between the crib’s mattress and the crib’s side – this will shore-up any gap, and will prevent an infant from pushing themselves under the bumper.
2.The bumper will then be tautly tied to the crib slats to secure it in-place, and prevent it from moving.
